“My wife, Dianna, and I are longtime San Diego residents, and we were looking for an opportunity to come together as a family and serve our community by providing them with the best ice cream on the market. Handel’s is a growing favorite in Southern California, and we are thrilled to bring the iconic and beloved ice cream brand to Hillcrest,” said Josh Barton, Owner of the Hillcrest Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream in a statement. “We are very excited to celebrate our grand opening with our neighbors and area visitors!”

An official ribbon cutting with the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce will kick off the celebration on March 23 starting at 11:00 am. Guests will also be able to participate in a raffle where they can win a free pint once a month for a Year and more!

The Hillcrest Handel’s marks the third for the city of San Diego but joins several other San Diego County locations.

“Our favorite thing about being a part of the Handel’s brand is that we get to serve happiness to our guests each and every day,” added Barton. “We have a passion for serving and giving back to our communities, while creating jobs and growth opportunities. We look forward to doing the same with our new Handel’s location through fundraisers and other supporting initiatives.”

The Hillcrest store features local flavors including Black Cherry, Buckeye, Coffee Chocolate Chip, Graham Central Station, Oree-Dough, Salty Caramel Truffle, and more. The location offers dine-in, pickup, delivery, and catering.

The new store is a 1,383- sq. ft. walk-up window location with nine service windows across the storefront for serving guests. The store hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

*A purchase is required to receive the Free Ice Cream for a Year offer.
