The company’s eighth San Diego location is set to replace Denny’s on the corner of Camino Del Rio and Hancock Street, according to SanDiegoVille. There is no exact timeline for this opening, but it’s just one of many new locations coming to San Diego. Another new site is coming to Poway at 12665 Poway Road, which is expected to start construction soon and hopes to open in late 2024 or early 2025. The new Midway store will likely open around the same time.

At the time of the Poway location announcement, Raising Cane’s was reportedly scouting for two more sites in San Diego and has landed in the Midway/ Sports Arena district for one of them. As a result, the company is still searching for an additional location in the city. This is an impressive accomplishment for the Raising Cane’s, considering California recently raised its minimum wage to $20 an hour for fast food workers, resulting in rising menu prices and worker layoffs. Despite all of this, the company, which was founded by Todd Graves in 1996 from Baton Rouge, has plenty of sites in San Diego County, with locations in Santee, Vista, Mira Mesa, Escondido, Chula Vista, El Cajon, and Imperial Beach.

This is just the beginning for Raising Cane’s, which has experienced 62 straight quarters of positive same-store sales, while average unit volume has more than doubled since 2015, according to QSR Magazine. As a result, Raising Cane’s plans to double its NYC restaurant count and reach 20 stores in Florida. As for California, despite the increase in minimum wage and the resulting issues, the company hopes to open 20–25 locations in the state this year and almost 50 in the next 18 months.
