Chef Andrew Bachelier has a pretty long list of accolades up his chef coat sleeves. Previously the chef of Jeune et Jolie, which itself won Esquire’s Best New Restaurants in America 2019, and Campfire, another Carlsbad eatery now headed by Chef Eric Bost, Bachelier opted to strike out on his own just last year. So here’s the result we’ve been waiting for.

A mere six days ago, on his Instagram account, Bachelier posted a picture with his family outside a building captioned, “Well looks like we got ourselves a new restaurant…” The picture appears to be taken outside of Fulano’s Gourmet Mexican Restaurant in Encinitas, and the location on the post is tagged as Leucadia. We were unable to reach Chef Bachelier at the time of publication, so we’re unable to determine when Chef Bachelier will take over the space or what that means for Fulano’s itself.

That said, if Chef Bachelier’s past success is any indication, this will be one experience you won’t want to miss. According to his website, “Bachelier has extensive fine dining chef experience, including 4 years at now-defunct Blanca in Solana Beach and nearly 5 years working under master chef William Bradley at the five-star and recently awarded one Michelin starred Addison restaurant at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar.” Following that, Bachelier was awarded Bib Gourmand status from CA’s 2019 Michelin Guide for his work with Campfire. So, short of the long, it’s going to be good.
