Board & Brush Creative Studio will set up a new San Diego location of their arts and crafts social workshop in Carmel Mountain Ranch. The DIY studio chain currently has a location based in Oceanside.
Founded by Julie and Curt Selby of Wisconsin in 2015, there are now over 268 locations across the nation. The company was ranked by Entrepreneur Magazine as the #1 DIY/Paint-&-Sip Studio Franchise.
Franchise Owner Jenn Valencia got involved with the brand after attending a Board & Brush workshop in her hometown in the Bay Area. She fell in love with the concept and wanted to set up a branch in her new home of San Diego.
The pandemic put the idea on hold, as distancing protocols put a damper on the social element of Board & Brush. When a space opened up in Carmel Mountain Ranch next door to Koi Zen Cellars Winery, Valencia took hold of the opportunity to introduce Board & Brush to her community.
At Board & Brush Creative Studios, participants can build a decorative wood sign or centerpiece, and learn a variety of design and DIY techniques to create a personalized work of art in a social group setting.
“The idea started in Julie Selby’s basement and grew into a fun outing, date night or night out to relax, and have a glass of wine or beer if you choose to,” explains Valencia. “It’s a fun atmosphere, with an instructor-led class, and you come home with something you actually want to hang up on your wall.”
The new studio will sell beer and wine, plus Valencia is hoping for future partnerships with other business owners and creatives to include in their cookie workshops or in building charcuterie boards.
The new Board & Brush Creative Studio is currently in the process of obtaining all proper permits and hope to reveal their workshop calendar in April ahead of their May 2022 opening. You can learn more about them at their Website and follow on Facebook for updates on future classes.
