The health-conscious company recently applied for a permit to open the restaurant in a new development near Horton Plaza Park, across from Balboa Theater. This will be the company’s fifth location in San Diego and the furthest southeast location in the United States. There is no exact timeline for this new site, as the company is awaiting approval of its permits. When the new Sweetgreen opens, customers can expect a variety of salads and healthy bowls

The health-conscious business should have no problems getting customers in its doors, only having to compete with Tender Greens a few blocks down. On top of serving delicious, healthy food options, the restaurant is committed to becoming Carbon Neutral by 2027 by reducing our carbon by 50% and meaningfully offsetting where reduction isn’t yet possible

“We believe that climate change is the defining challenge of our generation, posing a real and systemic threat to the health of people and the planet,” according to the company’s website. “As restaurant leaders in an industry that drives 25% of global greenhouse gas emissions, it is our responsibility to use our platform and resources to confront this crisis head-on.”
