The company’s fourth area location will be on the ground floor of the Strata Apartment Complex in downtown, according to a recent liquor license application. Krisp owners took over operations from Apple Tree Market owner Saad Hirmez in 2020 and have since renovated their existing location in Ocean Beach. Now, co-founder Sid Mikhail tells What Now San Diego, the company is working on a new location downtown, with an emphasis on serving food rather than groceries.

Owner Sadeer Mikhail tells What Now San Diego this site is expected to open in the first quarter of 2024. The new location will sit near two of the company’s existing sites at 1036 7th Avenue and 2511 C Street. While the Ocean Beach location at 4976 Newport Avenue was met with opposition from locals, mainly due to the sadness of losing a grocery store that has been around since 1989, the location recently made numerous improvements, including adding a full delicatessen and offering pizza, smash burgers, lasagna, and more. Customers can expect this food-focused design at the new upcoming East Village location.

“We are delighted to share the exciting news of the 5th Krisp East Village location, positioned in close proximity to our flagship store in Downtown San Diego,” Mikhail tells What Now San Diego in an email. “This new establishment is committed to fostering community support and camaraderie. Keep an eye out for an exciting range of novel food and grocery selections making their way to you soon.”
