The new restaurant will move into the former home of Luna Grill Scripps Ranch in the Scripps Ranch Marketplace Shopping Mall, according to a recent liquor license application. Co-owner James Jang tells What Now San Diego that the group, Aqua Del Rey, LLC, is still in the permitting process and hopes to open the new restaurant in May 2024. When it opens, it will become the go-to seafood destination for local shoppers, only having to compete with Rubios.

While few details regarding the exact menu items have yet to be shared, Jang tells What Now San Diego that this concept will be very similar to another one of his restaurants found in Del Mar: Seasurf Fish Co., which made its San Diego debut in September 2017 at 2650 Del Mar Heights Road, replacing Bellisario’s Pizzeria & Rotisserie. The Los Angeles-based seafood restaurant is a part of the Fish Grill brand, which started in 2013 and currently has three locations in Los Angeles. Seasurf Fish Co. offers various seafood options, such as salads, poke, tacos, burrito wraps, and sushi rolls, plus some not-so-common menu items, including burgers, sandwiches, and pasta.

“As we grow and see the tastes of our local communities evolve, we also aim to improve and further develop our concept by offering new menu items that will entice and excite our customers and keep you coming back for more,” according to the Seasurf Fish Co. Website. “We look forward to serving the community by offering an extensive menu of the delicious seafood we have dedicated ourselves to over the years, with some new additions coming your way, paired with the local craft beers, wines, and beverages that have become a source of pride and tradition. But no matter how we grow and expand, the basic premise of our team will always remain the same: we are family, and we will treat your family as one of our own.”
