Best Pizza & Brew, a local pizza and beer chain found mainly in North County, is expanding its footprint with a new location in Clairemont at the corner of Genessee Avenue and Derrick Drive.
The San Diego-based company was recently announced as the newest tenant coming to the upcoming Balboa Plaza Pad Expansion, along with Urbane Cafe and a Buffalo Wild Wings Go. Signage for all three restaurants was recently put up on the windows, with the interior still under construction. Best Pizza & Brew will lease the entire building on Derrick Drive, featuring an outdoor patio. Urbane and Buffalo Wild Wings will split the other building.
When Best Pizza & Brew makes its Clairemont debut, customers can expect, like the name suggests, some of the best pizza and beer in the community. The San Diego micro chain will have no problems getting customers in its door with the help of these American staple foods. On top of having a variety of delicious options, the restaurant will have to compete with chains like Papa John’s and Little Ceasars, as well as fast casual build-your-own pizza options, such as Pieology and Blaze Pizza. This will be the sixth Best Pizza & Brew in San Diego, following Cardiff, Mira Mesa, Oceanside, Carmel Mountain, and Vista.
The Balboa Plaza is located within the community of Clairemont Mesa, surrounded by a major business area with a strong daytime population, which includes two major shopping centers directly across the street, Genesee Plaza and Balboa Mesa Center, and is anchored by two tenants, Sprouts and Pep Boys. On top of being in a busy area, several other businesses and residential units are coming to the Genesee/ Balboa Avenue area, including a new California Fish Grill and CAVA, as well as a 404-unit housing development currently under construction.
