Owner Christopher Vigilante couldn’t be more excited about the new location in Oceanside.

“What we really dug about Oceanside was the diversity in the community in the local businesses,” he said. “Additionally, it’s got the quintessential southern California beach town vibe and for us to bring a roastery and cafe to a town like that is a dream.”

Vigilante started the business on the back porch of his home in northeast DC in 2012. After moving the company to Maryland the company built a coffee lab and expanded its production and packing operations in 2017 and added a second location the following year, according to the website.

With multiple cafes in Maryland and found in retailers across the East Coast, Vigilante decided now was the time for further expansion.

“We really love to build our cafes in unique buildings and the former School of Beauty building was a great fit,” he said.

To be located at 1575 S. Coast Hwy., Vigilante Coffee will be moving into a new space just off the beach.

“There’s a rich history of skateboarding & surfing within the Oceanside community and as a surfer & skater most of my life, that inspiration was definitely a draw to the neighborhood,” Vigilante added.
