The company’s second location is set to move into the former home of Cookie Plug in the Santa Fe Center, sharing a building with Drum Flip, Beast Pets Vista, and Forever Nail Salon & Spa, according to documentation recently submitted to the city of San Diego. Owner Thanh-Thanh Dang tells What Now San Diego that she and co-owner Mario Jimenez expect to open the new site in August 2024, offering banana-flavored coffee, various smoothies, breakfast toasts, and pastries.

The company was founded in 2007 when the owners opened the first coffee bar in the surfing mecca of Rincon, Puerto Rico, becoming the world’s first banana-inspired craft coffee house. Eight years later, in 2015, the company relocated to its current home in Oceanside. When the new Vista location opens, it will be open from 7 am to 5 pm daily, and orders will be available for delivery via Uber Eats. For those who don’t want to wait until the fall to try these delicious banana drinks, the company’s original location in Oceanside is open daily at 115 S Coast Hwy.

“From the reefs of Rincon, Puerto Rico to the sandy beaches of Oceanside, California—Banana Dang was born out of pure necessity,” according to the company’s website. “Coffee is our first love. Bananas are the world’s most perfect fruit. Being aware that these two core ingredients grow sustainably together is instilled deep in our everyday operations. Having spent the bulk of our lives in love with coffee and caring for our beaches, we had an epiphany—what if we created a space that embraced our passions: coffee, bananas, and the environment?”
