The company’s eighth site is expected to open on the ground floor of the mixed-use building in Little Italy. A represenative from the company tells What Now San Diego this site is expected to open in the first quarter of next year. Customers can expect a small-batch rotating donut menu with one-of-a-kind flavors, such as basil eggs benedict, Nutella chocolate chip, butter & salt, Saigon cinnamon, birthday cake, passion fruit matcha, and more.

Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee was founded in Costa Mesa in 2012 by Sumter and Chi-Lin Pendergrast and Chef Brooke Desprez, and quickly became known for its unique and delicious doughnuts. Three years later, the company opened its second location in Santa Monica, proving this to be a popular concept in Southern California. Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee first debuted in San Diego in late 2018 when the company landed in the Del Mar Highlands Town Center. Today, there are a total of seven locations throughout the area. On top of the mouthwatering doughnuts, the eatery also offers a variety of coffee and espresso drinks, including lattes, cold brews, and teas.

“We make our doughnuts daily, from scratch, using only the finest ingredients possible, and prepare as much as we can in-house,” according to the company’s website. “Our team works day in and day out, mixing and rolling out hand-crafted dough, standing over simmering pots of fruit purees and sizzling pans of bacon, and whipping up fresh creams and custards. We fry in small batches all day long, guaranteeing each customer a fresh-out-of-the-fryer treat.”
