Owner Ramiro Salas recently applied for a liquor license for 7292 Opportunity Road, Site C, which is the home of Ataraxia Aleworks Brewery. Salas tells What Now San Diego he will start his operations within the brewery in the Convoy Center but hopes to open his own tasting room one day. He is in the process of acquiring a loan so that this can happen, but for now, he will start operations with the help of Ataraxia Aleworks Brewery.

Whether or not Salas opens his own taproom, he should get a taste of what to expect when he starts operating from Ataraxia Aleworks Brewery. The Kearny Mesa-based brewery, located off Interstate 805, opened two years ago and is surrounded by other businesses, including Mystic Coin & Precious Metals, DrinkFly, and Wsa Lumber.

There is a pre-existing brand called Cerveza California, a fine microbrewery from California Brewing Company based out of Guadalajara, Mexico. Salas’ Cerveza California, owned by SC Companies, has no relation to this company, which also owns California Wings and Beer. The new Cerveza California has a website that is currently under construction but was established last year in San Diego.
