Owner Giovanni Georgees tells What Now San Diego the location is inspired by his Sicilian mom and his upbringing rooted in operating Italian restaurants in La Mesa. Georgees explains Momma Mia is a full circle moment, opening an Italian-style deli and upscale market specializing in fine imported goods.

“The deli is the main attraction,” according to Georgees, serving freshly made sandwiches piled with imported meats and specialty cheeses. The market will also stock rare desserts and Italian pastries that are not commonly found in the San Diego region, as well as grocery items.

An opening date for Mommia Mia Italian Deli & Market is contingent on the permitting process and licensing requirements. A website and social media for Mommia Mia Italian Deli & Market are forthcoming.
