The new eatery is expected to move into the former home of Homestead Cafe + Market in March 2024, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. This is the latest project from Mario Guerra, the owner of Valentina Restaurant in Leucadia and the CEO of Leucadia Co. Customers can expect various raw bar items and tapas, plus plenty of wine. Guerra will also use the kitchen to experiment with potential menu items for the restaurant.

The menu will be full of different handheld seafood options, including oysters and gambas al ajillo (spicy garlic shrimp), and various small plates, such as chicken liver pate and tomato/eggplant dip. As for lunch, the eatery will have a handful of sandwiches and salads. The wine menu will be curated by sommelier and operations director Ricardo Zarate Jr., who is also the Director of Operations at The Leucadia Co.

For those who want to enjoy the wine at home, Vale Bodega offers carefully curated retail wines and imported tins to be enjoyed at home. Those who want to enjoy the wine and uncomplicated tapas at the restaurant can do so from Wednesday to Sunday from 4 pm to 9 pm or on the weekend for lunch from noon to 3 pm. Vale Bodega will be closed on Monday and Tuesday to start.
