WestBrew is three months out from its Downtown debut. In April 2021, the San-Diego-born brewery will open up at 701 Island Ave. near the Gaslamp Quarter. Owner and founder Joshua Schreer confirmed the details in a brief phone call with What Now San Diego on Tuesday. The brewery is growing quickly, with established locations in Vista and Del Mar, and another set to open in Oceanside.

The new brewery space will share the Pac Lofts building with a number of offices from different industries, including Clover Health and Gap Intelligence. Just two blocks away from Petco Park and across the street from The Ritz-Carlton and Marriot hotel, this WestBrew will be its most central location yet.

WestBrew plans on bringing a “Southwestern meets mid-century modern” style to the industrial warehouse floor plan, as described on their website. On the menu, visitors will find a range of Biergarten-style eats, including house-made sausages to eat alongside their fan-favorite beers and seltzers.

According to WestBrew’s website, Schreer has lived in Southern California for 12 years, where he surfs and brews beer and seltzer. Brewed in Vista, each of WestBrew’s products is inspired by different iconic locations along the coast, with cans featuring art from Yosemite to La Costa.
