The new restaurant will move into the former home of NY Pizzeria By The Slice, next to Starbucks, according to a recent liquor license application. This is the newest concept from Victor Lopez, who also owns El Pollo Grill. On top of having locations in Lemon Grove and Otay Mesa, Lopez will be opening this new concept next to its Chula Vista location of El Pollo Grill. The concept will likely open by year-end, but an exact opening date has yet to be determined.

This will be a perfect location for the restaurant’s debut, sitting next to the Sweetwater Park Trail. Nearby is the Westfield Plaza Bonita Shopping Mall, where many other restaurants and retailers exist. These will all help bring customers to the doors of this new eatery, along with word-of-mouth from the sister concept nearby. Despite the plethora of shopping and dining options, Victorinos Pizzeria will have to compete with a handful of chains, including Little Ceasars, Pizza Hut, and Sbarro.

After months of negotiations with mall officials, Lopez opened the Chula Vista El Pollo Grill in 2019. At the time of the expansion, the restaurant owner was excited to bring more business to the area, with other tenants, such as Planet Fitness and Novo Brazil, bringing even more appeal to the shopping district. Now that the pandemic has ended and restauranteurs are getting back into the groove of things without restrictions, Lopez is doubling down on this location by adding his newest pizza concept.
