The healthy sandwich and salad company is getting ready to be the newest go-to option for Clairemont residents, recently announced as the newest tenant coming to the upcoming Balboa Plaza Pad Expansion, along with Best Pizza & Brew and Buffalo Wild Wings Go. The three businesses will sit at the corner of Genessee Avenue and Derrick Drive, with Urbane Cafe sharing a building with Buffalo Wild Wings Go. Both buildings feature an outdoor patio.

While Urbane Cafe already has six locations throughout San Diego, plus the upcoming Point Loma site, the company can be found all of Southern California, with locations as far as Visalia and Las Vegas. All locations offer delicious, hand-crafted sandwiches and salads. The company started in 2003 and has since changed how people view chain sandwich shops, offering fresh focaccia bread, all-natural, hormone-free meats, and freshly picked produce. The new Clairemont location will be one of the healthier options in the area, which is surrounded by fast food options, including Jack in the Box across the street. The interior of both buildings is still under construction as of late January 2024.

“We go beyond the promise of a superb sandwich & delicious salad to make people happy,” according to the company’s website. “To create a delicious, nutritious, affordable meal takes culinary expertise, farm-fresh ingredients, award-winning recipes, and an unwavering commitment to quality and craft—we’ve got all that and a bag of chips. A great sandwich is the sum of its delicious parts, which is why we obsess over every detail. We make our bread & sauces from scratch, get fresh, local ingredients delivered daily, and proudly prepare our creations in front of your eyes so you can see, salivate over & celebrate your meal to come.”
