The new restaurant will move into the former home of Fiddler’s Green Restaurant, which closed last year after nearly 30 years, according to SanDiegoVille. Co-owners Chalium Muir, January Muir, Whitney Eckis, and Spencer Moran plan to invest about $3 million to transform the 6,749-square-foot space. The Boatyard will offer delicious steak and seafood options made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. It is expected to open in early 2025.

While losing Fiddler’s Green Restaurant a year ago was hard for some locals, the County of San Diego Department of Environmental Health Food and Housing Division ordered the restaurant that opened in 1994 to shut down following multiple violations. Now, the group of San Diego natives is preparing to open The Boatyard as a nod to Point Loma’s history as a fishing village, a role the Fiddler’s Green Restaurant played for three decades. Unlike its predecessor, The Boatyard will offer a contemporary flair, such as having an open, wood-fired grill.

Another significant aspect of this new concept is the upcoming speakeasy, which Shelter Island has never seen before. The entrance will be behind a discreet harbor-side entrance, leading guests to a dim-lit maritime-themed room surrounded by vintage artifacts, according to SanDiegoVille. Once inside, expert mixologists will offer one-of-a-kind cocktails and an experience that one will not forget.
