According to a recent permit filing, Rise Southern Biscuits & Righteous Chicken has taken over the El Cajon Blvd storefront in Aztec Center shopping center. The space previously belonged to Cheba Hut Toasted Sub shop before they moved into a larger space in the retail plaza.

Earlier this year, What Now San Diego shared news of the five-unit agreement Rise signed with local franchise owner Jason Kasid.

Kasid shared that College Area was at the top of the list of locations he was searching for real estate in to introduce the brand. The brand is additionally targeting the Gaslamp, Pacific Beach, and Mission Valley for potential locations in the future.

Headquartered in Durham, North Carolina, Rise Southern Biscuits and Righteous Chicken is partnered with franchise development firm, Fransmart, and continues to sign new franchise agreements across the nation. The business now operates 20 locations and counting, with major growth planned in Texas and Southern California.

Rise promises the best dang biscuits and beyond, with a menu of Southern-style biscuits, fried chicken sandwiches, and donuts. Their restaurants offer signature biscuit sandwiches or build-your-own loaded biscuit or bun with your choice of fillings, like its well-known chicken or veggie sausage, plus signature sauces, cheese, and toppings.

Kasid shares with What Now San Diego that an opening date for San Diego’s first location is unclear at the moment and dependent on the permitting process with the city. Get acquainted with the menu by visiting their Website and follow on Instagram for more information.
