The company appears to finally be making its San Diego debut in the former home of Carl’s Jr. near the San Marcos Shopping Center, according to intel received by What Now Media Group. While CEO Joshua Liang has yet to confirm these plans with What Now San Diego, it proves the company is interested in expanding south towards San Diego. Ono Hawaiian BBQ is also opening a new location in Temecula at 27450 Ynez Road near the Temecula Town Center.

Whether or not the new Escondido location comes to fruition, North County residents will soon have a closer option to taste this delicious Hawaiian food when the new Temecula location opens. Previously, those interested in trying their food have had to travel up to Lake Elsinore or Menifee. In Riverside County, Ono Hawaiian BBQ is also working on new locations in Murrieta, Highlands, San Bernadino, and more, as well as a handful of new sites coming to Orange County and Los Angeles County.

When Ono Hawaiian BBQ finally makes its San Diego County debut, whether or not that’s in Escondido or elsewhere, the family-owned fast-casual restaurant will offer its authentic Hawaiian plate lunches and other island specialties. The restaurant uses the freshest ingredients in each dish, which is prepared from scratch daily in each restaurant and grilled fresh to order. On top of serving delicious Hawaiian food not often found in the U.S., Ono Hawaiian BBQ is also committed to serving local communities by giving back to the communities.

“Amidst these difficult times, many children rely on school meals for food every single day,” according to the company’s website. “Ono has donated over 46,000 Keiki Meals to various major school districts to help those in need. In addition, Ono Hawaiian BBQ has partnered with various children’s nonprofit organizations in the Round-Up for Change campaign. This encourages guests to “round up” to the nearest dollar to donate to children’s causes that support the prevention and treatment of child abuse to the educational needs of underserved communities.”
