If you live or drive around Encinitas, you may have noticed a banner on the side of the Moonlight Plaza Shopping Center announcing the restaurant’s upcoming arrival, but with no additional details. Now, owner Annie Rammel confirms with What Now San Diego that the company is currently in the process of a full build-out of the Encinitas location. She hopes to open by Summer 2024 but is currently working with the city of Encinitas on permitting.

“We do not have a set date just yet as we are working with the city for permitting as well as working with our contractors,” Rammel tells What Now San Diego in an email. “We are VERY excited about our new location and the opportunity to serve the community of Encinitas with one of the only rooftop full-service restaurants and bar that has a beautiful ocean view.”

When this restaurant opens next year, customers can expect a thoughtfully curated menu made with locally sourced ingredients, a high-quality wine list, and handcrafted cocktails. For food, the restaurant offers delicious shareables such as a fig, burrata, prosciutto flatbread, and a hefty charcuterie board. The Carlsbad location is currently fighting to keep its outdoor patio after the city begins to revert from COVID-19 restrictions and is not allowing permanent outdoor seating.

“We believe that it’s essential for restaurants like ours in Carlsbad Village to continue offering outdoor seating options even post-pandemic,” according to the company’s Change petition. “We urge you all – residents of Carlsbad Village and beyond – who value these unique dining experiences under the beautiful San Diego sky, join us in requesting that the city of Carlsbad allows permanent outdoor patio seating arrangements at Oak+Elixir.”
