Ice cream in the winter isn’t unusual for San Diego customers because of our pleasant year-round weather and we’ll now have another option to enjoy Handel’s Homemade frosty specialties. Franchise Owner Marcus Weenig told What Now San Diego they’ve signed a lease at 207 Main Street to open a Downtown Vista Handel’s by the end of the year. This time frame also matches up with their soon-to-open Oceanside stop on North Coast Highway. A Mission Bay location is also promised for October 1st.

Handel’s is known for its old-fashioned, made-fresh-daily appeal, with exclusive flavors like Monkey Business, Spouse Like a House, and Blue Monster. The tradition began in Ohio and has grown with franchises in Texas, Florida, Nevada, and California. Marcus Weenig has expanded the Handel’s footprint throughout the San Diego market with business partner Travis Campbell and family.

Marcus tells us the Vista location will be a similar make up to the Carlsbad and San Marcos models, with a walk-up window and some exterior seating on Main Street. “It’s a great little street with complimentary restaurants like URBN Coal Fired Pizza.” Their shops are designed to take your ice cream to-go and enjoy the area.

Stop in to any of their open shops in Del Mar, Santee, San Marcos, and Carlsbad to try their Flavor of the Month: Pumpkin Pie. Order pints or a 4-Scoop Sampler directly from Instagram at your nearest location.
