Lady M will soon bring their luxury cakes and confections to San Diego. The New York City based company which operates over 50 boutiques worldwide will set up at Westfield UTC in La Jolla next.
Known for their famous Mille Crêpes, their signature cake is made of 20 layers of French crêpes with pastry cream between each layer. Their cakes come in a variety of cream flavors like green tea, pistachio, and Tres Leches. Lady M rotates flavors every month, introducing new creations like their recent purple yam flavored cake.
There are currently five Lady M boutiques in California, with stops in LA, Orange County, and the Bay Area.
Lady M CEO Ken Romaniszyn tells What Now San Diego, “We would get so many visitors from San Diego in our Irvine location, requesting a spot closer to them.” A former Orange County resident himself, Romaniszyn was familiar with Southern California but more recently realized how much the San Diego region had grown.
During the pandemic, Romaniszyn would fill in to deliver cakes in Southern California while mail carriers were struggling to provide prompt delivery services. The CEO took note that a thriving customer base for Lady M was already here. When an opportunity came forward to grow further South, they partnered with Westfield UTC to replace a former Godiva location.
For those who are unfamiliar with the brand, Romaniszyn explains, “We’re a cake boutique, specializing in French pastry techniques with Japanese sensibilities.” The company sources their unique ingredients globally, allowing their preferred flavors to shine without overpowering with added sugar.
