The restaurant is the latest concept from the team behind nearby Azuki Sushi, who also operated Hachi Ramen before it closed in 2020. Azuki Sushi is known for their modern approach to traditional Japanese cuisine, topping many local lists as a must-visit spot.

Owners Shihomi Borillo and Nao Ichimura will rebrand the intimate 900-square-foot space on Fifth Avenue into an omakase-style restaurant.

Diners can expect an exclusive experience, with only two seating times per evening and a maximum capacity of 10 diners. Featuring an eight-course menu, guests will be treated to fresh and often locally caught seafood, paired with premium sake, wine, and Japanese whiskey.

Although Kinme does not have a social media or web presence yet, the restaurant has made the Tribune’s list of most-anticipated restaurants for 2023. It is expected to open in late February 2023. For now, follow Azuki Sushi on Instagram
