The Daily Aztec reports the $48 million student housing project will include beds for 169 students in 53 units. The former site of McDonald’s, the golden arches relocated to make way for construction of the new apartment building which will feature ground-level retail.

With a load of locations in North County, Handel’s most recently set up shop in Chula Vista and Hillcrest under franchisee Josh Barton

Ohio-born Handel’s is known for its old-fashioned, made-fresh-daily ice cream, with exclusive flavors like Monkey Business, Spouse Like a House, and Blue Monster. The brand has grown in recent years with franchises in Texas, Florida, Nevada, and California.

Construction is underway on the Topaz Apartments development and is expected to be completed by Fall 2023. No word yet on when we can expect Handel’s to start serving the SDSU community. Find out more about Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream by visiting their Website.
