Feng Cha is working on bringing a second location of their popular boba tea spot to the San Diego area. The tea chain is expanding quickly in Southern California, setting up their next franchise-operated cafe at Broadway Plaza Shopping Center in Chula Vista.
Originating in Taiwan, Feng Cha’s US headquarters is located near Dallas, TX. Franchise Owner Tiffany Le tells What Now San Diego her family traveled to Texas to get up to speed and bring the brand back to San Diego.
Le operates the Feng Cha location on Genesee in Clairemont Mesa and owns the territory rights to the San Diego region.
“Feng Cha is strict about ingredients and imports tea from Taiwan,” shares Le. Guests can choose from 8 different base teas like Green Tea, Jasmine, Oolong, and Black, customized with various milk and alternative milk options. Using equipment crafted for Feng Cha in Taiwan, Le explains, “We don’t rush anything. Our brown sugar boba pearls are cooked just right and have the perfect texture.”
Their signature beverage add on is their cheese foam, which comes in a mix of flavors like taro, matcha, and sea salt. On the food menu, guests can indulge in a light and fluffy Taiwanese-style cake topped with cheese foam, sweet sauces, fruits, or Oreo cookies.
Construction is underway on the 1,687-square-foot location in Chula Vista. An opening date is yet to be announced but Le shares that she is already scouting for a third location to set up in North County after their second cafe is up and running.
