Anyone recently driven by the corner of Balboa Avenue and Genesee Avenue knows something has been brewing in the former home of Boston Market. At first, it appeared that Starbucks would be extending into the space next door, but now, California Fish Grill has posted signage announcing its upcoming arrival. The company expects to open the new location sometime next month, according to the company’s website. The site is currently under construction.

The company has had a big year, recently opening several locations throughout the Southwest United States, including new sites in Escondido, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Fresno, and a handful of Los Angeles areas. California Fish Grill also expects to open a new location in Los Feliz at 4531 West Hollywood Suite G sometime next year. When these locations open, customers can expect a variety of delicious fish that are freshly prepared daily.

“Our wild-caught fish are harvested through the least invasive means possible to ensure the ecosystem is preserved and to avoid catching unwanted species. We insist on methods that limit untargeted bycatch,” according to the company’s website. “For our wide range of farm-raised seafood, we commit to working with certified-sustainable fisheries as possible and with those who share our dedication to responsibly sourced seafood.”

I also ordered the grilled salmon salad and the salmon was overcooked and also burned where it touched the grill. I had to scrape the char off of it before it was semi-fit to eat.
