A brand new upscale Italian gastropub called Lala is getting ready to open its doors in Little Italy, located at 1919 India St.

Busalacchi Restaurant Group will open the company’s newest concept sometime next month next door to its sister concept, Barbusa, according to SanDiegoVille. Owner Joe Busalacchi and his two sons, Joey and PJ, will open the 1,500-square-foot restaurant in the former home of Bella Woof Spa with a bar program from Antonio Gonzalez. The space will feature an 18-seat bar as well as a covered outdoor patio. An exact opening date is unknown.

Busalacchi, a Sicilian immigrant, first started in the industry by launching Trattoria Fantastica in 1994 and has since opened a handful of other successful restaurants in San Diego, another being Nonna + Zucchero. On top of creating some of San Diego’s most well-known restaurants, The Busalacchis have also recently released a bottled oat milk espresso martini named Busa, available at local liquor stores.

When the new upscale Italian gastropub, customers can expect an “Italian mediumalist” design by local interior designer Taylor Shaffer. Once seated, guests will have a variety of authentic Italian dishes to choose from and plenty of alcoholic options with an extensive wine selection. This will be the Busalacchi’s fourth concept.
