Owners Jeffrey Fink and Matt Sieve opened Madison on Park in University Heights in early 2016 before eventually expanding in 2022, when the team opened the restaurant’s sister concept, Madi, in the former home of Pachamama in Normal Heights. Now, the company’s second location of Madi will move into a vacant building last used by Panera Bread in The Hub Hillcrest Market, according to SanDiegoVille. The new Madi restaurant is expected to open in 2025.

When it opens, customers can expect a brunch-centric, globally-inspired restaurant, cafe, and bar that offers a variety of breakfast and lunch options. While the new location is reported to have more of a diner aesthetic, the menu will still feature a bevy of breakfast classics, including waffle churro sticks, chicken-fried steak and eggs, and blackberry and goat cheese pancakes, as well as plenty of lunch choices, such as the blackberry and goat cheese pancakes. Madi will also serve alcohol when it opens.

This isn’t the only concept the Madison on Park team is working on, as they have partnered with Sicilian-born chef Francesco Bonsinetto and partner Adisa Ziric to open a new yet-to-be-named pizza concept in University Heights. The new restaurant is set to move into the former home of Florabella Flower Shop, which is not too far from the original Madison on Park in University Heights. While the name has yet to be revealed, customers can expect Neapolitan style, wood-fired pizza, and Italian-inspired appetizers and entrees. An opening date has yet to be revealed, but it could be as soon as this summer.
