Previously, What Now San Diego reported on the company opening the Bear Roots Tavern, with the expectation of opening in Spring 2022. Unfortunately, owner Nasman Kiryakous experienced a handful of delays, significantly pushing back the opening date. The team is getting closer to opening after recently hosting a preview at the Escondido Street Festival earlier this month. Kiryakous tells SD Beer News that he expects to have a soft open for Bear Roots Tavern in July or August.

The new upscale casual eatery will feature 15 taps with a variety of the company’s beer available, including a special Escondido-only brewed beer. The name and style of said beer have yet to be announced. As for food, Bear Roots Tavern will serve a variety of “modern American bar food,” all made using all-natural ingredients. Customers can expect an outdoor patio and space for just under 100 people inside.

“This project has been a long and grueling process. It’s required a lot of hard work, but now that the opening date is near, we are extremely excited,” Kiryakous tells SD Beer News. “The amount of support and feedback we have received via phone, social-media messages, and comments from eager customers has been refreshing and provided a great deal of motivation.”

Once the new Escondido location opens, Bear Roots Brewery plans to expand and remodel its flagship site at 1213 S Santa Fe Avenue. The expansion’s goal is to increase overall production capacity so that all three locations will always have enough inventory. The company also has a tasting room in Downtown Vista at 135 E Broadway.
