Bear Roots Brewing out of Vista is ready to expand with a third location in Escondido. Their new location on El Norte Parkway was formerly occupied by an auto loan facility and will need a remodel to transform into a restaurant space. Bear Roots currently operates a tasting room in Downtown Vista, along with their flagship Vista location which also serves as a Home Brew Shop.
Owner Nasman Kiryakous told What Now San Diego the new location will not serve as a brewing facility but will operate as a restaurant and tasting room. Kiryakous explains, “We wanted to expand and in Summer 2020 we started self-distributing our beers and we’ve been doing well. People really enjoy our beers.” Now they’re looking to add a food element with the addition of the Escondido location.
The brewery spread their roots in 2014 under former owners Terry and Page Little, focusing on homebrewing-style creativity and passion for the craft. Kiryakous took over operations from the Littles in 2019 after they exited the business.
Bear Roots has submitted for licensing and permitting with the city and are waiting for the go-ahead to begin construction on their new spot. Further design and menu options will be under the guidance of their future chef, but Kiryakous shares that they’re aiming toward clean dishes like flatbreads and salads.
Bear Roots Brewing in Escondido is expected in Spring 2022. In the meantime, “stick to your roots” in Vista and stay updated on their brews through Instagram.
