The company’s third location will move into a former cell phone repair and electronics store early next year, co-owner Kris Warren tells What Now San Diego. He and David Aguilera, Travis Bailey, and Jimmy Blalock launched the brand in 2018 from North Park, replacing a shuttered dry cleaners/tailor shop while still honoring it through the company’s name. Since then, the company opened a second area location called An’s Hatmakers in Del Mar Plaza. Now they plan to open a third location.

In paying homage to each of the building’s previous tenants, the owners plan to continue with the tradition by naming this new site An’s Electronics Repair, Warren tells What Now San Diego. Although the company has only been open for five years, it has gained national recognition as one of the best ice cream shops in the country. This year, An’s Dry Cleaning has secured second place in USA Today’s ten best competition for Best Ice Cream Shop in America. The company has also been featured in Forbes, Zagat, and Lonely Planet. The national recognition has largely influenced the expansion.

When An’s Electronics Repair opens early next year, it will feature a menu of traditional and non-traditional, small-batch gelato flavors, all named after fabrics. Some flavors featured at An’s Dry Cleaning include Leather (brown butter and chocolate chip cookie) and Burlap (peanut butter, coconut, and chocolate). One of the more unique features of this sweet shop is the ability to take a tasting tour before ordering. Customers can expect the same service and delicious ice cream at the new Ocean Beach location.
