Owner Kevin Bang brought the Canadian-based dessert brand to the US and is now in the process of rebranding his local outlet of Cheese Garden into Mad For Cheesecake. Bang also operates Bonchon Chicken restaurants and another recently-opened eatery, Jaws TPK.

Bang shares with What Now San Diego his future plans to expand Mad For Cheesecake in the region, with plans to add another storefront in Chula Vista. The rebranding of Cheese Garden in Carmel Valley to Mad For Cheesecake should be finalized soon, with the addition of a website and social media for the brand by next month.

At Mad For Cheesecake, guests can indulge in a variety of Japanese-style cheesecakes and desserts made in-house daily. Customer favorites include the Matcha Double Fromage Cheesecake, Yaki Pudding Cheesecake, Baked Cheese Tart, and Uji Matcha Tiramisu. You’ll also find a variety of coffee drinks and milk teas on the menu, as well as Ah-Boong, a fish-shaped waffle cone filled with your choice of fillings, like custard or Nutella, and topped with soft serve ice cream in flavors like Ube or Matcha.

San Diegans can expect another Mad For Cheesecake location in South County in early 2024. For now, get to know the brand by visiting the new sweets shop at 1420 E Plaza Blvd in National City.
