Led by owners Khara and Andy Mangiduyos, the storefront will allow the business to expand catering services and fulfill bulk orders, plus serve grab-and-go lunches and plates of their signature dishes.

Khara Magiduyos tells What Now San Diego that the idea behind the concept is to bring a piece of Hawaii to their home neighborhood of Rancho Penasquitos with a casual, community-focused eatery like the kind you’d find in Maui.

The family-owned business highlights Pacific Rim cuisine, serving a mix of Asian and Hawaiian dishes like Chicken Katsu, Loco Moco, Kalua Pork, Macadamia Crusted Fish, and Lumpia platters.

A Maui native himself, Chef Andy Mangiduyos shares creations by Kalei’s Kitchenette with weekly lunch service at Qualcomm’s corporate office in Sorrento Valley. The business also caters private events and parties and makes appearances at local community events.

Renovations have begun on the space, which previously operated as a bakery. Kalei’s Kitchenette is projected to open in Q2 2023 in Rancho Penasquitos. Get to know Kalei’s Kitchenette by visiting their Website for more information.
