The new boutique boba shop is owned by Sam Duong and Kristy Le, who decided to bring the brand to San Diego after trying it in Los Angeles, according to Eater San Diego. Twinkle Boba & Tea Lounge currently has three locations in Pasadena, Cerritos, and Alhambra, as well as the recent opening in San Diego, but that’s just the beginning for the two longtime friends, who tell the publication that they’re hoping to open additional locations in Chula Vista, Grossmont Center, and Rancho San Diego.

The Kearny Mesa Twinke Boba & Tea Lounge offers a variety of milk teas, matcha, fruit teas, smoothies, and more. Currently, the company offers seasonal treats designed in-house by the Twinkle team, such as the seasonal honey mint tea, Lunar New Year cosmic dream tea, and classic Thai tea w/cheese foam. The new Twinke Boba & Tea Lounge is currently offering discounts on its products to members of Cars N Anime. Later, the eatery hopes to add a few snack options, such as egg puff waffles, fried tofu, and French fries.

Before the company expands to more parts of San Diego, the duo will have to secure their position in the Convoy area as a reliable boba and tea spot. While this first location will be an excellent site for the San Diego debut, with plenty of foot traffic going through Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, Twinkle Boba & Tea Lounge will have to navigate through some tough competition in the area. Surrounding the company’s first area location are many other related eateries, such as Sharetea, Kung Fu Tea, Tea n More, and Urban Bubble. Thankfully, this area is a hot spot for Asian-influenced dining options, so the company will have plenty of opportunities to attract customers.
