Whiskers and Wine Bar are putting the final touches on their cat cafe and lounge in the Antique Row district on Adams Avenue. The new space to mix it up with adoptable cats has been dangling details in front of followers like a string toy up until recently, allowing the interest to build but keeping a distance…much like a cat would.

Owners Nicole and Chris Smith of Whiskers and Wine Bar broke the silence on the Food for Thought podcast to share what we can expect at the much-anticipated bar. The project has been years in the making after the property was purchased in 2018 and construction added a second level and lots of cat-focused amenities inside.

In partnership with Saving One Life, a local foster-based rescue, Whiskers and Wine Bar plan to house 10-15 cats in their facility at a time. The cats reside cage-free in the lounge, with lots of spaces to explore, climb, play, and mingle with their potential furever owners.

Safety for both the cats and humans are top priority for Whiskers and Wine Bar. Cats have their own dedicated hideaway spots to get some respite from guests plus private litter areas. Stairwells are also kept separate so no cats get tangled up in your feet as you explore, IYKYK.

Per health code, food and drinks cannot be served within the catio lounge but Whiskers and Wine will offer a full bar and comfort food options. A sample menu can be found on their Website, with options like flatbreads, cheesy tots, and charcuterie boards to pair with your Catbernet or Meowmosa.

Whiskers and Wine Bar will also host events like local art mixers, tasting and educational sessions with wineries, and wellness events like kitty yoga and sound healing.

Stay tuned for an opening announcement which is teased to be in the upcoming weeks. Whiskers and Wine Bar can be followed on Instagram for more information. Tentative operating hours will be Tuesday through Thursday 12-8, Saturday 10-8, and Sunday 10-6. Mondays are closed for private adoption appointments through Saving One Life
