The idea for Charles Schmidt’s Cobblestone Delicatessen all began when he noticed something was missing from the San Diego food scene. “Surveying the San Diego food scene, [Schmidt] noticed a glaring gap: a deli with an elevated experience that blows away customer expectations and brings joy through food at an accessible price.”

After years of working in the restaurant industry (and thinking back on a 20 year old SoHo experience at Dean & Deluca), Schmidt is ready to fill that gap.

While Cobblestone Delicatessen is not yet open (all social media channels say it is ‘coming soon’), you can glimpse the eatery’s expansive menu online, which features an array of salads, soups, and, of course, ‘the classics.’ Be it a BLT, Billy Club, or Dirty Reuben, Cobblestone has got your deli needs covered. Do you prefer a refined or rustic Grilled cheese? Seems like a place that lets you choose is already setting the right tone.

Oh, and Cobblestone recently filed an application for the licensed sale of wine and beer on the premise. Always a good sign.

Look for Cobblestone Delicatessen to open soon at 1100 F St. in San Diego, with opening hours of 7am-7pm, Monday-Sunday.
