Owner Val Fiorini tells What Now San Diego the move comes with great support from the community in Ocean Beach. The cafe’s original spot on Bacon Street was in operation for seven years up until landlords at the Knights of Columbus organization raised the rent to utilize their outdoor space by nearly 500%.

After building a dedicated clientele in Ocean Beach, Val’s Coffee Corner was pushed out of the space Fiorini held down for many years. The Knights of Columbus promptly leased the space to another business, leaving Val’s to look for a new home.

Val’s Coffee Corner has found success connecting to the local Brazilian community, serving Brazilian-style pastries like Pot Pies, Chicken Croquettes, Paninis, and Argentine-style Empanadas. “Our best sellers are our smoothies and Brazilian cakes, just like your grandmother would make!” shares Fiorini.

Other menu favorites include Val’s specialty acai bowls, made with the highest-quality, organic 100% pure acai imported from Brazil. The acai sorbet is topped with granola, toasted coconut, fresh fruit, honey, chia seeds, plus your choice of nut butters or add-ins like Nutella.

Val’s Coffee Corner is expected to reopen on its new corner in Ocean Beach later this month. Stay tuned for more information by following them on Instagram
