What Now San Diego previously shared news of their partnership with the Port of San Diego to introduce the first Topgolf location along the San Diego waterfront on Harbor Island

Now Topgolf shares that their development team will replace the Sorrento Canyon Golf Center in Sorrento Valley with a multi-level venue and over 80 of their all-weather hitting bays.

“We’ve wanted to bring the Topgolf venue experience to San Diego for a long time, and it’s encouraging to see us making progress toward that goal,” said Topgolf Chief Development Officer Chris Callaway in the press release. “While still in the early stages, we’re excited by the potential to bring even more play to the San Diego community.”

The progress mentioned has taken years to achieve, finally coming to an agreement with the Port authorities to develop the 68,000-square-foot site on the bay. Topgolf shares the East Harbor Island location will feature 3 levels and 100+ bays which highlight the brand’s signature technology and over a dozen games to play.

Topgolf is headquartered in Dallas and is operated under Callaway Brands which is located in Carlsbad. Topgolf locations are known for bringing together golf, entertainment, and food and beverage under one roof.

While it’s currently unclear when Topgolf will take over the Sorrento Canyon property, the business has communicated to guests via their Facebook page that their business has been sold. There is no opening date set for their East Harbor Island venue and construction of the project is dependent upon permission by the Port of San Diego.
