The management team behind Tacos El Cabron on Fourth Ave in the Gaslamp Quarter is cooking up a new hangout in the neighborhood. The team from Abyan Management are locals themselves and are invested in the Gaslamp area off Market Street. They operate from an office space just across the street from El Cabron.

What Now San Diego confirmed they recently requested a permit for food service under the El Cabron name around the corner at 534 Fifth Ave but Abyan Partner, Jean-Paul Rojo, confirmed they won’t be leaving their Fourth Ave flagship restaurant.
The team has a new nightclub concept in the works at the space on Fifth formerly occupied by Double Black Lounge Bar, which closed at the start of the pandemic in 2020.
Jean-Paul shared with What Now their hybrid concept to operate a restaurant during the day and a nightclub at night.
“We saw the need for another club in this area since last call is at 1:30am and at 1:20 there’s always a line around the block.” They hope to create another option for club-goers with a different cuisine than El Cabron.
No word yet on when the night club will be opening its dance floor. The concept for the club has yet to be finalized and the team will take the necessary time to design the interior. In the meantime, they are utilizing the kitchen and outdoor parklet on Fifth Avenue to serve tacos to-go under the trusted El Cabron name. As usual, you can find late-night tacos at their 532 Fourth Ave restaurant.
