“It is an incredible milestone to be opening our third restaurant in the greater San Diego area made possible by our amazing team that has been growing with us over the years. We are all excited to share some new dishes we’ve been working on that will only be available downtown,” said Jeremy George, Co-Owner of Smokin J’s BBQ in a statement. “After opening our first restaurant 3-and-a-half years ago, San Diego has really begun to feel like home. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to open a spot in the Gaslamp District, the heart of our new home,” said Josh George, Co-Owner of Smokin J’s BBQ.

Situated in a historic building originally built in 1910, the new Smokin J’s location boasts 3,800 sq. ft. and seats up to 120. The interior has been redesigned by Mckenzie George, co-owner of Smokin J’s and wife of Jeremy George, to mirror the aesthetic of the original Poway location, which opened in 2019. Along with exposed brick walls, the space features white-washed wood plank ceilings, antique mirrors, unique ceiling fixtures and custom wallpaper. It will also offer a large bar area and entertainment for guests to watch local sports.

At Smokin J’s new location, menu highlights will include pork shoulders and briskets smoked for 12-16 hours, the Smokin J sandwich, sides such as mac ‘n cheese, slaw, bean crack, and new items only available downtown. All menu items are made from scratch, in-house, with no shortcuts taken. Additionally, the restaurant is bringing back its pecan pie and introducing a new pecan pie milkshake. Specials will be offered as well.

Smokin J’s newest location is located at 751 4th Ave., San Diego, 92101. Hours of Operation: Monday-Tuesday closed, Wednesday-Thursday: 11AM – 9PM, Friday-Saturday: 11AM – 12AM and Sunday: 11AM – 8PM.

This location will have full takeout and delivery options available via the Smokin J’s website, as well as availability on third party platforms.
