This is the latest from the Dyomin family, who recently submitted documents to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality. While it’s still early in the permitting process, the couple will likely open this new bakery next year, offering homemade sourdough and pastries. The company’s social media teases some of the delicious treats available to order, such as authentic pumpkin bread, cranberry walnut bread, and more.

Shoreside Bakery will be in an excellent location, sitting on the ground floor of the Diega apartment complex. The new bakery will be between a busy Broadway and C Street, with a trolley station stop a few blocks away. While a handful of bakeries are in downtown San Diego, this new one will only have to compete with Knead Artisan Bakery. This is perhaps even more of a celebration for the co-owners, considering they had a health scare a few years ago.

“Five years ago, I experienced a severe health scare: a blood clot detached, and I had to undergo a heart surgery, lasting more than ten hours,” according to a social media post. “After the surgery, I faced a long and difficult rehabilitation, and nothing seemed to help. Friends and loved ones thought I wouldn’t survive, but the Lord healed me! During a time when I could barely eat, a young woman offered me her sourdough bread, and I noticed that it made me feel better. This inspired me to start baking bread myself. Initially, I baked for my family, then for friends. Now, we are planning to open our own bakery. Words can not describe the immense gratitude I feel each and every day. God is good, and the best is yet to come.”
