The concept for Pop Up Picnic Company came about back in 2012 while founder Lauren Kimmons was running a vintage rental company. During a slow season, she decided to set up a cute Valentine’s Day themed picnic on the beach. “People never stopped calling about it after that,” Kimmons tells What Now San Diego. Pop Up Picnic Co. was officially launched in 2018, making stylish picnics with picturesque settings accessible to anyone.

The company will scout the perfect location, they bring chic lounge seating and a table, delicious food and beverages, and guests just show up and enjoy. No need to fret about clean-up or hauling out the picnic goods; Kimmons and her team take care of everything for you.

Now the brand is ready to branch out with new and exciting offerings. “We are opening our first retail space in La Jolla. We’re aiming for November 1st as our Opening date,” shares Kimmons.

The new space will be an extension of their main picnic service but on-the-go for spontaneous folks who want to enjoy the nearby beaches and parks on their own. “We’ll be in the heart of La Jolla, our preferred location. La Jolla has so many great little parks so we’re excited to be in the community,” says Kimmons.

Options available for pick up will be sandwiches, charcuterie boards, and lunch boxes. Order up a pre-made basket, which includes a blanket and food for two, then the rest is up to the customer! Pop Up Picnic Company’s bread and butter will still be the fully designed picnic service, available to be booked online or via Email for any special occasion like birthdays, bridal parties, and proposals.

All the information about their offerings can be found on their Website. For lots of picnic inspiration, check out their Instagram page.

Great article! Luxury picnics have definitely taken SoCal by storm and can easily be spotted at beaches or parks. The concept of having a picnic company take care of everything, and guests only needing to show up is great, as it allows for stress-free planning for the party host!

The sign for their new place was taken down about a week ago I think. The shop look abandoned. Did they change their mind and shut down before they even opened?
