Kaiyo, a full-service marketplace for gently-used furniture announced its official launch in San Diego on September 7th. This expansion comes on the heels of the company’s West Coast debut in July in Los Angeles, and offers those in the greater San Diego area the ability to quickly and easily buy and sell pre-owned pieces.

This latest expansion brings Kaiyo’s coverage in California to a total of five counties, including Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego.
“Furniture is one of the largest waste categories in the U.S., meaning millions of pounds of furniture ends up in landfills each year. In addition, there is virtually no recycling for used furniture. Since launching Kaiyo, we have successfully kept more than three million pounds of furniture out of landfills so far. Expanding into San Diego allows us to further our mission,” said Alpay Koralturk, Founder and CEO of Kaiyo in a statement. “Put simply, Kaiyo takes the hassle and headache out of making a sustainable choice, and we are proud to continue our rapid expansion on the West Coast, and across the country.”
Most recently, Kaiyo raised $36 million in their Series B, bringing Kaiyo’s funding to nearly $50M. By growing to new markets and making it fast and convenient to buy or sell secondhand furniture, Kaiyo hopes to drive participation in the circular economy.
