It will be replacing Del Sur Mexican Cantina, which announced its closure on Thursday.

“We have decided that it is time to pass on the great space that has been home to Del Sur for the last five years,” the restaurant posted to Facebook. “We have had a great run and the support that we have received from the community has been overwhelming, but it is our time to move on.”

It went on to say that a friend and active member of the South Park restaurant community would be taking over in the near future.

While an exact opening date of Mothership has not been announced, the Instagram account created for the new bar says it will be opening on 30th and Juniper in Winter 2021.

Eater San Diego reports that the tropical space adventure bar will be the new permanent home of Kindred’s Thursday night pop-up Permanent Vacation.

The menu will reportedly feature exotic cocktails and “interplanetary vegan fusion.”

Kindred Owner Kory Stetina could not be reached for comment prior to publication.

I wish the new place well. As a long time resident of this area, what we don’t need is another bar… It will be interesting especially since we just got a new tasting room that suddenly sprung up.
