The team from Tuetano Taqueria have announced a second project they’ll be rolling out with their move to Old Town Urban Market food hall. Mar Rustico will join the food hall, guided by Tuetano Owner, Priscilla Curiel. Tuetano Taqueria and Mar Rustico will be joined by an unnamed pizza restaurant, gelato, and wine/beer served on-site.

What Now San Diego spoke with Priscilla Curiel about the new seafood concept. “I know many of us in San Diego are very familiar with Mexican Seafood but there are lots of styles depending on which region and what products are local to the areas,” explains Curiel.

From Sinaloa-style to Baja Seafood, Curiel promises the restaurant will focus on authentic and original dishes. However, she’s most interested in zoning in on Cabo-style dishes.

“I wanted to go more South of Ensenada style, like La Paz and Cabo. I was fortunate enough to work in Cabo doing some restaurant consulting years ago. Creating the menu always stayed with me,” says Curiel. While the menu is still being developed, Curiel says to expect homey dishes, guisados, burritos, and obviously fresh oysters and ceviche.

As a full remodel of the site is in its final stages, the restaurants are coming together to finish testing menu items. The goal is to open Old Town Urban Market with all food options ready at the same time, aimed at a December 1st Grand Opening.
