It’s hard to pass up the chance for a great meal at a new restaurant, especially one that boasts a choice between entrées like the Bone-In Tomahawk Steak with Herb-butter, Butternut Squash Risotto, and the Cornish Hen, but Mystique Dining owner Terry Commons aims to make that pass even harder. Mystique Dining offers not only intimate five-course meals, but a show as well.

At Mystique Dining, which is scheduled to take over a space in the La Jolla/Torrey Pines Submarket in La Jolla, California this month, you can enjoy a decadent meal, selection from a generous list of wines and beers, and a 45-minute magic show by a world-class Master of Magic. The entire experience lasts around two and a half hours, with the magic show portion beginning after the last dessert plate is cleared.

The very first Mystique Dining opened in 1997 and offered customers a reservation at the Mystique Chamber Mystery Theater in Chubbuck, Idaho. Since then, Commons’ establishments have made their way south. Nowadays, Mystique Dining offers dinner and a show in Salt Lake City, Utah and Folsom, California. We’re all (im)patiently awaiting the arrival of the newest location, right here in La Jolla.

If you’re curious what the La Jolla Mistique Dining experience will be like, Commons says you should head over to the Mystique Dining at Gardner Village Facebook page. The La Jolla location will follow in the footsteps of Gardner Village’s more intimate and higher-end experience.

To partake in the Mystique Dining experience, you do need to make a reservation through the restaurant’s website. You’ll select the night you’d like to attend (based on a rotating cast of magicians) and the main course you’d like to enjoy. Dietary restrictions are accommodated.

While we were unable to confirm an opening date for Mystique Dining’s newest location in Southern California, we can say that Commons is due to take over the space at 915 Pearl Street in La Jolla this month. Stay vigilant and don’t let your eyes deceive you! This enchanted dining experience is one you won’t want to miss.

I don’t know about you, but I already have chills.
