It looks like this San Diego-based baking service is going brick-and-mortar.

According to an interview with SD Voyager, Castro-Martha first started baking around nine years ago. When she became a mom, she decided she wanted to work from home, and the business naturally grew from there. “One thing led to another and I found myself baking cupcakes and cookies for my family who where my first customers and supporters,” Castro-Martha said in her interview.

Now M Squared has quite a following, and Castro-Martha bakes confections to order. Recently, Castro-Martha has been whipping up graduation cakes, quinceñera cookies, and Mother’s Day sweets. She even made vegan doughnuts a few weeks ago.

So far, the business has run out of Castro-Martha’s home kitchen, but that is changing as M Squared Baked Goods was approved for a permit at 36 Euclid Avenue, Suite F, in National City.

In an email to What Now San Diego Castro-Martha wrote, “since we’ve been growing we’re in need of a kitchen that’s exclusive for the business…our operations will be there and customers will still need to order online.”

The Euclid Ave. kitchen means more production for Castro-Martha. She added, “until now we have been working mostly with custom orders and we plan on doing that still, but with the new operation site we will be focusing a bit more on making our delicious cookies to distribute them on different coffee shops and farmers market within our permitted area, we will also announce where and when they will be available for all our customers to enjoy!”

Soon you’ll be able to find M Squared confections throughout the National City area, which is pretty sweet, if you ask me.
