Authentic Ethiopian Restaurant Replaces FireBirds on University

Lucy Ethiopian will soon join the neighborhood of City Heights. Serving authentic Ethiopian cuisine, the restaurant will move into the space formerly occupied by Fire Birds Hot Chicken on University Avenue. The new restaurant is not affiliated with the spot of the same name in Los Angeles.

Their menu offers a variety of traditional dishes, on their Yefisik menu (containing meat or butter) you’ll find Doro Wot, with chicken in a red pepper sauce, beef dishes like Gorod Gorod, and Kikile, a lamb stew. 

They also serve quintessential Ethiopian fasting meals such as Bozeno Shiro, made of ground peas in a savory red sauce, and spiced lentil dishes like the Mesir Wot. 

Co-Owner Alex Wolkaba tells What Now San Diego they are waiting on final permitting and ABC licensing and plan to celebrate their grand opening in early-May. Lucy Ethiopian is not yet on social media but you can catch a sneak peek of what’s to come by visiting their Website
