Eater reports the 6,000-square-foot restaurant will join the Biovista development of life sciences labs owned by Longfellow. Intended to encourage a live-work-play environment, the location will feature a lounge worthy dining room, veranda bar, and outdoor patio. The restaurant will be open to the public at the life science building as well as neighboring corporate offices.
Labeled as European meets Californian, California English is Blais’ take on the European bistro with a casual and very SoCal vibe with bountiful fresh ingredients of the region.
“California English will be a fun take on the classic and casual bistros of Europe presented through the lens of Southern California’s produce and people. With an all-day menu perfect for a leisurely lunch, post work dinner meeting or a date night with friends or family, I can’t wait to continue to create and cook for the San Diego food scene,” states Blais via the California English website.
More projects by Blais are in the works at nearby campuses owned by Longfellow Real Estate Partners. California English is expected to open in Early 2023. Follow them on Instagram for news on the project.
